FC travelled to Warwickshire for this game against old Southern League Midland rivals Bedworth, who now reside in the Premier Division. Boss Craig Faulconbridge took a good selection of experienced first teamers as he continues to shape the team for the new season.
FC were shocked very early on as a Bedworth striker crashed the ball against the bar with the shot flying away to safety. A few minutes later and the home team had a goal disallowed. With this pressure a goal seemed inevitable. It was the away team which went on the attack. FC wanted to show their prowess as an attacking force when Jerome Federico almost put Brian Haule through. The striker was unable to capitalise and the chance went begging. That opener wasn’t too far away. David Blenkinsop was given a clear run on goal, taking the ball around the keeper and despite the best efforts of the FC defence, a goal could not be prevented.
On 35 minutes Bedworth increased their lead. FC failed to clear their lines and Ben Steane followed up with an impressive shot which left the keeper with little chance.
There were no more goals in the game as each manager shuffled formations. The action now moves on to our final home game against Maidenhead United this Tuesday, another team from asenior division, as Aylesbury’s preparations for the season are finalised.
