Report by Jools Thomas
It was a welcome return to winning ways for FC as the team's strikers enjoyed a goal feast on a warm night at Haywood Way. Not only were the goals plentiful but the majority were also of good quality, which must have gladdened the spirit of bosses Craig Faulconbridge and Keith Walker.
Jonathan Constant opened the scoring on the 10 minute mark. He drew the opposition goalkeeper out after good work on the left. As the keeper narrowed the angle, JC slipped the ball underneath for a classy finish. Nine minutes later and it was 2-0. Brian Haule collected the ball on the outside of the box and neatly passed it with his instep into the net. FC had a penalty awarded on the half hour mark but an excellent save from the Kidlington keeper prevented a goal. It wasn’t to be long however before the score was 3-0. Several FC players had chances to finish before Jonathan Constant whacked the ball in from close range. The half time score was 4-0 thanks to another goal on 42 minutes. Triallist Emmanuel Dahie scored with a very impressive and almost carbon copy of Brian Haule’s strike some half hour earlier.
The second half saw fewer changes to the FC line up as the management team look to create a settle side for the season’s opener. As the half progressed FC soon made it 5-0. Brian Haule collected the ball and fed debut man Dahie who smashed the ball from 20 yards into the keeper’s top corner for the strike of the evening. The scoring was completed on 65 minutes with the ball eventually reaching Davis Haule who cheekily backheeled the ball into the Kidlington net.
