Report by Jools Thomas
This afternoon saw a useful run for Aylesbury in this pre-season friendly on the practice pitches at Haywoods Way. FC took took the field with a good proportion of last year’s experienced Southern League squad plus a number of trial players. These men immediately took the game to Buckingham and it was no surprise that on eight minutes the home side took the lead with a goal resulting from a low shot by one of the trialists, Jerome Federico. The half continued with FC peppering the visiting goal however it wasn’t until the 45th minute that FC increased their lead with the profilic Brian Haule bundling the ball home after a melee in the box.
The 2nd half contained fewer familiar faces and this gave FC Boss Craig Faulconbridge the opportunity to review some of the new faces on show. Buckingham were also trialling a number of new faces and this made the half a much more even affair. Although there were chances for both teams it seemed the half would be goalless especially as the game was played under a sweltering hot sun. However a goal from a Buckingham striker right on full times gave a final score of 2-1.
