It was a case of back to the drawing board for Aylesbury FC as a catastrophic opening five minutes in this FA Cup tie at the Affinity Investments Stadium ultimatley caused this defeat . Windsor could easily have added to their total especially in the first half although it would be unfair to say that FC didn’t have their moments.
The first blow occurred on 2 minutes when a pass from the left found Ryan O’Toole who swept the ball past FC keeper Simeon Charles. Just two minutes later and a Ben Stevens mistake allowed the same man, O’Toole to dance in on goal and finish accurately for 2-0. Ben Harris had yet another chance for the visitors when he attempted to walk the ball into the net when quick thinking was more the order of the day. FC first troubled Windsor mid-way through the half. Ryan O’Sullivan, one of the few positives of the season so far, put in a quality cross that whistled past the post. FC’s best chance of the first half occurred on 30 minutes. A Ryan Blake cross was met by Danilson Vicente, a striker who has worn the FC shirt before. Danilson’s shot however hit the post and bounced away to safety. Despite these efforts, Windsor still finished the half stronger. A strike which flashed past the post, a chip against the bar and a header over the bar could all easily have increased the scoreline.
On 50 minutes, Wayne O’Sullivan saw a quality free kick saved but soon afterwards a very controversial moment occurred. Windsor’s Ben Harris was felled in the penalty box however the expectant penalty decision was not given and play continued much to the surprise of the visiting support. With Harris leaving the field injured, the visitors lost a little of their attacking threat and this was the start of a period of bright FC play. Danilson had another good opportunity with the keeper parrying his shot after good link up play with Ryan Blake. Blake had another chance a few minutes later with the keeper pushing the strike round the post. Ollie Lynch then released another long range effort that Windsor keeper Rob Bullivant did well to save. James Faulkner then created a cheeky chance which narrowly cleared the bar. Nothing concrete emerged from this pressure however and as the clock counted down, Windsor regrouped and saw out the final few minutes for dare I say it, a well deserved victory.
