U16 Dynamos met Aveley youth in the cup today.
For the first 10 minutes it was a relatively even game. Both teams had a few half chances and there was a fair bit of energy on the pitch.
That didn't last too long and Aveley showed that they were much more physical than we were used to. Whilst some players matched it, there were too many who were losing individual battles.
We lacked aggression but we were hanging in there.
After 30 minutes their striker was put through one on one with Bob who came but brought down the player for a penalty.
A well struct penalty saw them take the lead 0-1.
Half time
Second half started much as the first had finished. We couldn't get the ball, our defence and Bobby were very busy and then the second came 0-2.
From then on we looked disinterested. Failing to track players, allowing them too much time and not marking from a corner gave them their third 0-3.
The fourth was a good goal. We allowed too much time on their right wing and an individual run and shot flew past Bobby to make it 0-4.
Hopefully, a lesson learnt today. We weren't strong enough, we weren't quic enough and our attitude wasn't good enough.
Will hopefully do them good
Call outs to Archie and Ted who did a good job containing their strikers.
Player of the match goes to Levi who put it in today and didn't give up.
