U16 Dynamos off to a winning start!

First game for the U16 of the new season.
Stepping into the new league, we knew nothing about LGCE or the standard we would have to play at. We were playing on the main pitch and using the changing rooms for the first time so we were hoping for a good start.
LGCE kicked off and straight away it was obvious they moved the ball well. Lots of pressing required on the early stages which we did well. They had few efforts but nothing that troubled Bob in goal.
We started to settle and created a few attacks but didn't really test their keeper either from open player. Josh played a freekick into Finn who struck a shot but at the keeper.
Then the goal came. Finn went on a weaving run and was pulled down for a freekick just outside the box. He struck it well and the keeper got a had to it but only enough to push it onto the underside on the bar and in 1-0.

That goal seemed to lift us and our pressing was greater and we created a few more opportunities with shots from Uthman, Harry and Levi.

At half we were one up

Second half we started well but still didn't really get the passing going too much. Our football became quite direct and we were giving it away a lot. Bob launched a ball down the middle and their keeper came a long way out. Finn applied some pressure and the keeper lost the ball for Finn to play into the open goal from 30 yards 2-0.

Soon after LGCE pulled one back. We got caught ot in the middle and we were over loaded. Our back four, who had done very well were exposed and a shot from a very tight angle made it 2-1.

We soon went back up though. Good pressing across our front line from the strikers led to Josh forcing a sliced clearance. Billy pounced on it and toed the ball past the keeper 3-1

Our celebrations didn't last too long as we left the defense exposed and outnumbered. This led to a shot which was well saved from Bob but the ball bounced out and an LGCE player reacted first, smashing it into the net 3-2.

The last 10 minutes were very nervy. We couldn't keep the ball and it was like someone pressed the panic button.
A few players ran out of steam in the heat and LGCE definitely fancied their chances of getting an equaliser.
They worked the ball into the penalty area and cut across. Kaiden attempted to make the tackle but was a fraction late and a penalty was awarded.
Their player stepped up and struck it to Bobs left. Bob went the right way, made the save and gathered the ball into his chest. He spent a moment admiring his save and we had a few more minutes to hang on.
We had a few attacks wit both Lucas and Levi getting shots off and LGCE had one more effort fly over the bar.
The full time whistle blew and we had our three points.

Plenty for us to work on to get to the required level but a great start and an entertaining game.
