Fantastic performance away to Gerrard's Cross

One thing we have always struggled with is playing football in the cold and rain. Turning up at Gerrard's Cross to a squelchy pitch in cold and wet conditions was not a good start.
We knew that we needed all three points to keep our title hopes alive. We went into the game one point ahead of Gerrard's Cross but they had a game in hand. Knowing full well they still need to play Slough twice this was a big game for us.

The boys were up for it and we were on the attack from the kick off. A run down the wing led to a corner. Josh whipped the ball in which got flicked away by their defence but only as far as Fin who fired it back across the box for Harry to tuck it home. 80 seconds gone and we were one up.

The attacking continued and we were putting a number of shots in against their keeper. Had we have taken these chances we could have been four or five up within ten minutes.
The second goal was a great team goal with the ball being worked down the right wing. Teddy struck a powerful low cross in from the right and Fin threw himself at the ball to slide it in.

The second goal seemed to wake them up a bit and they went on the attack down our left. It was looking like they were about to put a cross in when Charlie F slid in to hit the ball then the player with a trademark tackle. The sort of tackle that gets celebrated as much as a goal.

Rhys did an amazing job and at preventing their player maker from getting into the game proving stronger and quicker than their key player.

We were back on the attack again with some tidy football being played. It was clear that some of their players were getting frustrated with the level of possession and shots we were having. It wasn't long before we had a free kick on the edge of their box. George stepped up and put the ball over the keepers head into the the back of the net.

Half time 0-3

The second half started as the first had ended with good chances from Teddy, Fin and Levi. Sadly, we couldn't get the fourth goal. A strong run from Archie through the middle led to another free kick on the edge of the box but we couldn't convert it.
17 minutes into the second half they pulled one back. We missed a few chances to clear the ball and ended up being punished for not doing so.

That didn't change the game though, we were still looking more likely to score and Ted was soon out through 1 on 1 with the keeper. Ted skipped past the keeper and tried to tap the ball into the net. Their defender slid in to make an excellent sliding save.

With about 10 minutes to go they got another one. This led to a very nervy last few minutes but we held out and the better team came away with the points.

An excellent performance from the entire squad. The first half was the best half they have ever produced where a three goal lead could have easily been six.
Bobby was only called into action three times and played a key part towards the end of the game settling things when he had the ball.

No man of the match because everyone was superb but key performances today from Rhys, Charlie F, Fin and Teddy

Goals from Harry, Fin and George.

Well done chaps
