Dynamos start with a victory !

AVDFC U14's Dynamos 5-2 Slough Town

Team: Edward, Jay; George, Luca, Dorian, Aiden, Harry, Callum; Jake, Taylor, Owen, Kai, Harley, Charlie; Alfie

Here we go again...another season, more twists and turns, goals for and against, shouty coaches, loud parents and brilliant referees...and we wouldn't change it !!!
Twas the 9th hour of the morning on a somewhat cooler September day and Dynamos were ready for their first match. With 2 new recruits playing this season, Taylor from the Youth team and Harley from the, now folded, Colts team, the Management team were quietly confident of a good season.
Dynamos were quick out of the blocks with the boys looking up for the match. An early chance was created by Owen in the middle as he spun and played a great ball through to Kai who controlled and hit his shot at the keeper. Next up Harley found some space on the left and swung in a low cross with was met by Alfie but it went over. Dynamos were looking comfortable.
14 minutes and Dynamos won a free kick in their own half and Luca hit a fantastic long ball over the defence and found Alfie running through on goal, he sidefooted it past the onrushing keeper and put Dynamos 1-0 up.
2 minutes later and Jake and Owen combined in the middle and released Kai galloping off down the right wing. He had a couple of opportunities to cross...but held onto the ball too long...chance gone...no...he got passed a tackle and swung in a high looping cross, over the first defender, over Alfie, over the keeper....and you guessed it....straight into the goal ! Cheers from the parents (one in particular), applause and the Manager shouting "You can't celebrate a cross, Kai"!!! However, it was now 2-0 Dynamos.
From the Slough Town kick off, Dynamos pressured the ball and Alfie and Callum managed to steal possession and find Kai again on the right, this time he hit a great ball to Charlie and he did the rest, beating the keeper with a low shot to the right of the goal. 3-0 Dynamos.
Slough were still threatening with a particularly nippy right winger, but Aiden and Luca kept them at bay on that side. When they did attack through the middle of on their left, they were met with Mr.Cool...George who cleared up anything near him and Harry was holding his own as well.
Owen was pulling the strings in the middle and created another couple of chances, one for Kai who shot wide and one for Harley who also just missed the target.
31 minutes and Callum won the ball from a goal kick and skipped past a challenge and found Charlie in the middle, he played an inch perfect pass to Alfie who ran through and slotted it past the keeper. It was 4-0 and only half an hour played.
That soon became 5 goals when Taylor got the ball and found Jake on the left he played the ball to Alfie who beat his defender on the flank and hit a ball into the box where Callum was running through, unmarked, and slammed it home. 5-0 Dynamos.

Slough came out strong in the early part of the second half and almost scored after a couple of minutes but Edward came rushing out and cleared his lines well. Moments later Slough crossed the ball and Luca got a touch to clear and George got a final touch to clear the danger.
That was a warning and on 46 minutes Slough got their deserved first goal when their nippy winger outpaced all from the half way line and beat Edward at the far post. 5-1 Dynamos.
Dynamos were still passing the ball well and Kai had a great chance to score another but he pulled the trigger too late and just missed the target. Then a corner from Harley was headed onto the bar from Harry....so close.
Another chance then as Callum found Owen and his first time shot was comfortably saved.
Slough were getting more involved and finding holes in the Dynamos midfield to exploit and 53 minutes on the clock and they had another goal. A speculative shot from outside the area looked harmless but a large bobble in front of Edward and it spilled into the goal. 5-2 Dynamos.
Slough could sense a comeback and went 3 at the back and looked to push forward. Luckily George, Dorian and Luca were clearing up most of the time at the back and getting a foot in when called upon.
Another great ball from Owen set Kai free and he accelerated away from his marker only to hit his shot inches wide of the target. Moments later Taylor, Callum and Owen played some lovely one touch football to set Kai away again, this time his cross was met by Alfie but went over the bar.
Final score 5-2 Dynamos.

So, first game of the season and a victory. Great first half and a much more difficult second half, but still a great result.
Alfie got 2 goals and looked a handful up front. The two main wingers, Kai and Harley, were both getting joy on their sides and creating chances. George and Luca were both solid at the back all match. Callum looked great in the middle today as well. Final shout out, for me, was Owen as he was involved in much of Dynamos build up play, so much so that the opposition manager screamed at his team to man mark him...but he still managed to create chance. Well done all...onto next week !
