Tomorrow FC travel to Chalfont St Peter

Tomorrow FC travel to Chalfont St Peter

Admin admin25 Jan 2013 - 06:35

Weather permitting The Moles get back to League action tomorrow travelling the short distance to Chalfont for hopefully the first game since the 12th.

Chalfont currently lie 14th in Central Div 1 South, one place above Aylesbury but having played three more games than the Moles. Like most teams Chalfont have also been inactive due to the weather since the 12th of January. Chalfont's recent league form is patchy having lost five of their previous seven League games although that maybe misleading as they have included defeats against Burnham, Royston and Rubgy although they did beat Guildford recently.

Aylesbury will be without Leon Osei who begins his ban for the sending off against Leighton Town but apart from that will have a full strength squad to choose from.

History
Chalfont St Peter Football Club was formed in 1926, and played at Gold Hill Common. After the Second world war they joined Great Western Combination league for the 1949–50 season. The club for the 1958–59 season moved to the Parthenon League.

They joined the London League in 1960, but only stayed in the league for two seasons. The club joined the Spartan League league in 1963 and played in the league for twelve season, though their highest finish was sixth. In 1976, Chalfont St Peter joined the Athenian League Division Two, which the following season merged with Division One. The following season then saw the club make their debut in the FA Cup, losing to Barking in the first Qualifying Round.

The club finished runners-up in the Athenian League in 1983–84 and gained promotion to the Isthmian League Division Two North. After two seasons the club was transferred to Division Two South, which the club won in 1987–88, gaining promotion to Division One. After six seasons in Division One, Chalfont was relegated to Division Two. Another six season later, the were relegated to Division Three, which was renamed Division Two in 2002. The club left the Isthmian League in 2006 to join the Spartan South Midlands League, when the FA restructured the leagues. After finishing runners-up in 2007–08 and 2009–10, and champions in 2010–11, they were promoted to the Southern Football League Division One Central. During this time, the club also reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase.
